friday llama

Good morning! So this morning I woke up and started looking at houses online. Farms actually. Or just land with a few acres, because some day I would love to have chickens, a llama and plenty of space for vegetable and flower gardening.

I don’t know what my fascination with llamas are exactly, but I just love them. Maybe it began when I used to work at Haley’s daycare and we would drive past them every morning. Sometimes we would get stuck at a light and one would be sitting right next to our car awkwardly chewing and looking so silly. One year at the fair Haley got to feed one and from then on our obsession grew into actually wanting one of our own.

So, just for fun, every Friday I’m posting a llama pic.

Because it’s my blog and I can do what I want to. =0)

Have a great weekend!!!

I'd give all I have honey...to make you stay like that

Love this song...

Love Haley...

Hate that time keeps ticking away.

To all the parents whose kids are growing up way too fast.

you never know

It’s snowing.
I didn’t think we’d get any this year but we did.
She went out right when it started.
Dad’s at work but I eventually joined her about thirty minutes later.

We stayed out until it looked like this.

no two are alike

Happy New Year everyone!! Can you believe it’s 2011?
Last year seemed to fly, but don’t they all once we grow up? It’s like a vacation.
It takes forever to get there because you are so excited, but the trip home flies by.

Haley wants to be a grown up, she talks about it more and more.
Wants a job, to get married. I remember doing the same thing.
Wishing away precious time.
Now if only it would slow down.
I was going through my pictures from 2010 and thought I’d relive some of my favorites here.
Hope you don’t mind. =0)

We started the year with a pretty amazing snow.
Don’t think we’re getting any this year, but I guess anything's possible!!DSC01987
She got up again and again, sometimes with a skinned knee, and sometimes with tears in her eyes,
but Haley eventually learned how to do this:

We attempted to do a “Cookie of the week”,
but were turning into fatties at an alarming rate, so quit after a few months...

But it was fun while it lasted.

And boy did it last. =0)

Haley went on a boat for the first time, and went swimming in the lake.
I can't believe she'd never gone before.
Where did the time go?
(Thank you Kristy for taking us!!)

We laughed,

and I cried (but I'm not showing a picture of that!),
when I turned 30.

On Halloween we met the Big Bad Wolf from “Little Red Riding Hood”.
Doesn't he looks just like he did in the books?

My husband and I started to look alike...
Or at least I think so in that picture at least.
I held Haley’s hand while she got her ears pierced for her birthday…

and we pondered life’s deepest questions.

And this guy slept the year away.

Isn't he the sweetest thing?
I just want to squeeze his face.
Lovingly, of course. =0)

This past year I also started blogging! It's been a lot of fun getting to know the technical side of things,
and having people to share my creativity with.
Blogland is better than a magazine isn't it?
It's free, and each day there is new inspiration everywhere!
Plus there are so many women who can share their hearts much better than I can, so that,
coupled with all the beautiful pictures, really makes for a great place to soothe a tired soul at the end of a long day.

I plan to post my New Year resolutions later this week.
That'll be fun.

Thanks for reading!!

love free projects

Awhile back I got a lamp base at Target on clearance for about $6.

I figured I would use it in Haley’s room but the lampshade I had was one I got from Goodwill and it was hideous. But it was only about $2 so I figured I could come up with some way to cover it’s ugliness.

So after, ooohhhh, about eight months I finally figured out the perfect solution.

The idea came to me as I was cleaning out Haley’s closet.

I found a tu-tu skirt that she used to wear last year that didn’t fit anymore, and I knew it was too cute and held too many memories for me to just donate it.

I was going to just put it in a box but suddenly I had this amazing idea to use it as a cover for Haley’s lampshade!

It only took about three seconds!

Well, maybe like, five minutes to get it perfect. =0)

The bottom of the lampshade was just a little wider in circumference (wow, haven’t used THAT word since high school), than her skirt was, so I cut about a 1” slit up the back of it just to get it to fit over the shade completely.

The top of the shade was showing just a little bit so I added an old belt that was also in the ‘donate’ pile.DSC03590

Can you tell that Haley is an animal lover?

I also love that I can remove the skirt at anytime and change out the style of the lampshade.

I could totally be onto something here…slipcovered lampshades??? Genius!

Only six days to Christmas peoples!

I still have so much to get done…namely, almost all of my shopping.

Oops!!!!!

Thanks for clicking on my linky pictures and actually reading my blog!

You’re comments make my day!

Smoochies!!

cozying up

Haley is almost asleep,

the dogs have finally settled in after going outside 5,000

times to use the bathroom,

and me and the hubs are about to watch one of my favorite Christmas movies ever.

create

I wanted to add a little inspiration to my craft room/office.

So I grabbed a few things I already had around the house

and came up with this:

IMG_5189

I spray painted the frame with Rustoleum’s semi-gloss black, then distressed it a bit.

Inside is a piece of scrapbook paper.

I printed out the word ‘create’ in a font that I liked, and transferred it to my scrapbook paper, then filled it in with a charcoal pencil.

IMG_5188

I was planning on painting the word but I was sitting at my desk and the pencil was right next to me so I decided to go with that. =0)

Just to give you an idea as to how lazy I am.

Plus zero cleanup!!IMG_5201

Luckily, my husband doesn’t mind the pink. =0)

I hope everyone’s having a Merry Christmas season!!

Have you got all of your shopping done?
